Club Membership

Members pay a small weekly subscription of £2.50 which includes tea/coffee and biscuits, as well as covering a nominal contribution towards activities on offer.  In addition, there is an inexpensive annual fee of £10 which goes towards the daily management and organisation of the club.

Should any members require help and support with personal care, they are welcome to bring a family member or carer with them.

Some members have regularly attended for several decades, and have gone on to form personal relationships – enjoying a social life beyond club walls and, in some cases, getting married. Below are extracts and quotes taken from members’ club memoirs, their thoughts and expectations when they joined, and how they feel they’ve benefited from regular attendance.

Feedback by our members

A nice little club, friendly.  Lots of interesting people here and it provides me with something to look forward to.  I’ve been coming for two years.

I like arts and crafts at the club – and the fish & chip suppers!

It’s a change of scenery.  I have cerebral palsy and so I like to do colouring and sewing.  I’ve been coming for many years.

It gets me out of the house for a couple of hours.  I like the social side and making friends.  I have been coming since 1979, so it means a lot to me.  I don’t have a computer at home, so I use one at the club.

New Members

We are actively seeking new members, whereby a warm welcome and introduction awaits.  We have a one-to-one “buddy” system in place, where an existing member or club volunteer will ensure no one is left on their own from the moment you come through the door. In addition, it’s our pleasure to offer your first visit on a free of charge basis – providing an opportunity to sample activities on offer, and have a chat with some of our group. There’s no obligation to immediately join as a member, come and try us out!

The church hall is located on a main bus route in the town centre, and there is free car parking directly outside.  However, we are happy to discuss any access needs and / or potential feelings of anxiety in advance of your first visit.
