This is our minibus which has been looked after by Hedley for many years. Happily, Mandy is poised to take over looking after the minibus as the ‘handover’ takes place over the coming weeks.
Our minibus is also known as ‘the ambulance’ since it is well equipped with a hydraulic lift. The lift allows us to provide transport for club members who are wheelchair users or have mobility needs.
Over the years Hedley has maintained the vehicle in tip-top condition and it looks as good as the day we took delivery of it. He really has set us a high standard and he knows every inch of it.
As Mandy picks up the keys in the near future, it will be her job to make sure there’s sufficient diesel for the week and everything is in good order, ready for our drivers.
Our drivers are all kind hearted volunteers who give up their Friday evenings to drive members to the club and return them home afterwards. The drivers work in pairs, for safety sake.
You might be wondering where our drivers come from? We couldn’t manage without the Rotary Club who provide the majority of our drivers. A number of others also join in with the rota so they take a turn roughly every six weeks.
Although we will be expressing our appreciation to Hedley in due course, for now we extend a huge welcome to Mandy as she steps forward to look after our much-loved minibus.
